Swami Dharmananda
Swamiji was born in 1953 in Calcutta. He was raised by his father who gave great attention and dedication to his education. He was given strong ideals and values by his father who wanted him to have a career in the army.
He graduated from the National Defence Academy as a commissioned officer at the prestigious academy at Dehra Dun. After a few years he left the army to seek his spiritual destiny in Rishikesh. Since 1983 he has resided at Ved Niketan Ashram, where he was initiated in the order as a Swami.
He is a teacher of the Science of Yoga and Indian Spirituality to earnest seekers coming to Rishikesh from all over the world. His lectures especially his mode of presentation with humour, stories and anecdotes has earned him wide acclaim. His lectures are available on DVDs and book “Advance Yoga Study”.
Julie & Govinda visited Rishikesh six times and studied with Swamiji and highly recommend him as a spiritual teacher.
Swamiji is currently teaching in Colorado USA.
